We’re Getting A New Carpet Laid…?

There’s vinyl tiles in its place at the moment, is it worth the trouble removing those or can the carpet be laid over them? I know those tiles are a pain to remove, im hoping that doesn’t have to be done!

Put is right over them,,,, it’s not worth the effort, plus if your decide to change to say wood floors you can put that right down over the tiles as well. If it’s in the basement and you end up with water problems it would be easier for clean up if the tiles were underneath.

Nope, you can go right over them, actually if they are over concrete, helps with nailing down the tackstrip.

Just put a good underlay under them and carpet on top, the old tiles will act as an extra insulator, so save money time and mess by doing this.

i’m sure your using a good weight padding underneath so going over the vinyl is perfectly fine.

It is no big deal but if you or a later owner of the house wants just the wood tho they would have a big problem.

No, they don’t HAVE to be removed. Save your money whereever possible. If the installer tells you otherwise, get another installer. Why put money in their pocket when you don’t have to?
