My Husband And I Both Work. I Work 3 To 4 Days A Week He Works 5. Is It Unreasonable For Me Ask For Some Help?

My husband and I both work me 3 to 4 days a week he works 5. It seems since I work less then him I have to do all the housework and his days off he relaxes. He is from England and says that the women there do all the housework. I have told him here in America we share in chores and women are not slaves. I have a 15 year old son who lives at home and he does do his share he keeps his room neat and tidy and mows the lawn and occasionally does dishes and does his own laundry. I have a roll of bathroom tile that needs to be laid that has been sitting there for 3 month. Do you guys think I am being unreasonable for needing some help? I do all the cooking, Laundry, vacuuming, dusting, organizing etc etc………. How can I get him to pitch in?

What Kind Of Backsplash And Floor Tile Would Work In This Kitchen?

We are remodelling our kitchen, and are getting cabinets and a counter in a colour similar to the link below (not our house, but looks something we found on the net that is similar to what we want). The counter will be giallo ornamental granite, and the cabinets will be maple stained to a medium brown/red colour. Our kitchen is small (we won’t have an island), but has a large south facing window so there is a lot of light.
We are looking for ideas for backsplash and floor tiles. We definitely don’t want ceramic, as we want something a bit more natural, but we don’t like the look of travertine (with filled in holes). We’d like to have a bit darker coloured tile (both floor and backsplash) than those pictured in the link, but are totally open to suggestions.
Thanks!

How Do Microhoods Work?

I am remodeling my kitchen and we are moving the stove to a different wall, our cabinet maker said the microhood can either use filters or we need to make a hole in the wall for ventilation, does anyone have a microhood, if so please tell me what to do. all this has to be done before the cabinets are installed.

How Much Of A Fire Hazard Is It If Someone Does Their Own Electrical Work?

My dad says he’s going to completely remodel the kitchen, replacing everything, and doing the electrical work himself. He doesn’t have any experience with electrical work, and tends to overestimate his abilities with this kind of thing. Is this going to pose a serious fire risk? Should I be worried? Aren’t there any laws requiring you to get a fire inspector to come and check your work?? Any info would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!

Do I Need A License To Do Work In My Own House?

Do I need a license or permission to do electrical work or plumbing or remodel the kitchen? I thought that if I did the work myself, and not for profit such as a contractor would do, then I don’t need to get special permission?

Tile Work – Bathroom

I bought some nice tiles to lay in 2 bathrooms in my home. I’m not real comfortable doing it myself (but I will if need be). I found a guy to do it on the side that I am confident will do a good job but he wants $270.00 for the job.
The bathrooms are about 20 sqft. a piece.
Is this a good price or should I work him down….or just do it myself…?

How Does The Carcassonne River Expansion Work?

I just bought Carcassonne with the free river expansion, but it mentions nothing about the river in the instruction manual. I know the river is supposed to be placed first, but how? Does everyone draw a tile at random, or are all of the tiles laid out for people to choose? If it’s at random, how can you guarantee that the river connects and the head and tail are in the correct places?
