What Is My Next Step In Installing My Toilet Flange?
We are re-doing our bathroom and need some advice. We took out the old toilet, pulled up the old sub floor, and laid down a new subfloor and hardibacker, leaving a hole for the toilet drain. The toilet flange was 2″ higher than the floor, so we removed the old cast iron flange, in order to replace it with PVC. We then laid mortar and porcelain tile on the floor, again leaving just enough for the drain pipe. We now have a PVC toilet flange that – when inserted into the PVC drainpipe – sits on the new tile floor, meaning that the new flange sits 1/4 inch higher than the floor. Can I drill down into the floor/tile to secure the flange, or do I need to rip up what I laid around the pipe? Basically, my question is – can a toilet flange rest on the tile floor?
