Orange County Floor Kitchen Bath

My husband and I are remodeling our kitchen. We are removing paneling and replacing it with dry wall however the workers are not doing the job until a week from now but they asked my husband to remove the paneling from the walls but when my husband removed one panel the fiber glass underneath it is kind of old and it has rips in it and Im afraid that it is not safe for us to be around and especially for a whole week. We have a 5yr old and a small dog, I just don’t think it’s safe and my husband is upset and disagrees. Who is right? Thanks.

My family is remodeling the kitchen and they choose to place the gas cooktop right near the heater. Right now the heater is not on but when it does, is there going to be any safety issues? I feel uneasy watching a cooktop near a heater.
