I have an older Patriot single-wide. I’d like to knock out a dividing wall in the kitchen but I’m not sure if its a supporting wall? How can I tell if I can’t get access to the layout or blueprint? The previous owner had crummy cabinets and cheezy drawers made and put in which made it a very tight kitchen area, so I wanted to remodel and just open it up to the rest of the living-room but put in a small aisle for an added counter space. Any suggestion in going about the remodeling of my kitchen? Thanks.
I live in a 1987 doublewide mobile home – its made out of wood not tin. I own it 100% and its valued at $40K+ but it needs work – like new windows and I would love to remodel the kitchen but have yet to find any companies that offer financing.
I had originally planned on installing ceramic tile, but some people say that you need to lay down 1/4 cementboard, and some say you need to lay down 3/4 plywood AND the cementboard. The floors are very solid and don’t have any flex that I can detect (the bathroom subfloor has been replaced with plywood of an unknown thickness and the kitchen is original particleboard of an unknown thickness). Can I get away with just backerboard, since the plywood is going to make a nasty difference in surface height between the kitchen and living room? Or if I use laminate instead, does that stuff hold up well in a bathroom (I would guess not)??

kitchen cabinets, countertops and upgrade the appliances? Is it possible?
I have a 1968 model 12×60 with a metal roof (gets really hot in here with out air), 2 bedroom, kitchen, living room and a bathroom that is wheel chair accessable
I’m remodeling a trailer. The kitchen cabinets look horrible with years of grease and grime that have severely discolored them. I’ve tried scrubbing the grease off with steel wool, several cleaners, sandpaper etc. I just purchased heavy-duty degreasers from a chemical supply company, but haven’t used them yet. My quesiton is what do i do to make them look more updated. they have veneer with pressed wood underneath. am i able to sand the veneer. i prefer to be able to paint them as opposed to staining (rest of the kitchen is dark wood paneling, i want to brighten it up a bit) Thank for any suggestions
I saw some beautiful ceramic/ slate type tile and want to lay it down in my mobile home. Is the floor able to support it?
Even if properly installed 1/2″ backer board, ceramic is not recommended in a mobile home. There is to much general move ment in such buildings that tile will crack from the shearing of the thin set . Even if your set on a solid foundation. Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
