Laying Carpet Squares Over Linoleum Flooring?

We live in a rental property and the lino flooring is that old, industrial style stuff. It’s horrible, very scratched and stains so badly I essentially have to clean it on my hands and knees.
I have seen carpet tiles or squares in Bunnings, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to just lay them down over the lino? Obviously being a rental we can’t lay them properly, but what if we were just to fit them and lay them over the lino without any adhesive? Would it be a problem for the lino underneath, and would the vacuum cleaner lift them every time I did the floors?
Any advice would be appreciated, I really hate our awful floor and would like to improve it!

What Would Cause Nails To Come Up Through A Linoleum Floor?

My mom bought this house barely about six months ago and we are now noticing nails coming up through the linoleum tiles in the bathroom and kitchen which were remodeled before we bought the house. The guy who we bought it from did some really shotty remodeling work on a low budget, but we’re just noticing the nails now.

How To Deep Clean Ceramic Tile Or Linoleum?

I’ve moved into an apartment and the floor is either really cheap ceramic time or well-laid linoleum. One way or another, you could see that it’s been there for a good long while and is kind of grimy, probably from years of neglect. It was much lighter back in the day (as I can see in other apartments in my complex), now it’s just gray.
I’ve tried cleaning the floor with Ajax but it only got it a bit lighter.
What are some of the tools, cleaners, chemicals, etc… that I can use to really deep clean it, get rid of the grime and bring the floor to it’s original color?

Ceramic Tile Over Linoleum…?

40 Square foot bathroom floor. The linoleum was laid maybe 5 years ago(we bought the home 2 years ago) so it’s laid down pretty well. Inside the linen closet is an area I can begin to tear up the floor. It is laid down pretty well. If I do tear it up, will I need to sand the subfloor (plywood) down to the bare wood and get all the glue residue off? Is it ok to just sand the linoleum with a heavy grit belt sander and just go to town? using a latex additive to my thin-set.
Real wqwuestion is what’s more economical/smart? Sand and go over the linoleum. Or spend the extra time tearing it up and install cement backerboard.
I live in NE Ohio, and am not prone to moisture damage since this is on the second level of my home.

How Much Should I Expect To Pay Someone To Install Linoleum Tiles In A Small 40 Sq. Ft. Kitchen?

Curious how much to either lay it over existing linoleum (filling in some dips) or ripping out floor and installing new. Thanks!

Linoleum Prep On Garage Floor?

My husband and I recently converted our garage into a mudroom/entry kids craft area. It looks beautiful but ran out of$$$ to do the floors. We originally thought we’d have someone tile but it is a secondary entry and we’ve seem some really high quallity linoleum we’ve decided it’s just as well and more affordable. We have a standard cement garage floor. It is level but has small texture like a ceiling would i guess. Can’t we just lay linoleum over it? My husband thinks we have to smooth it. Is there some kind of first layer of lino we can do? I don’t want to re-cement the floor.

Should I Prep My Old Linoleum Before Installing New Vinyl Tiles?

Remodeling a small guest bath with old (1962) linoleum. The guy at lowes recommended painting the linoleum with a latex primer after cleaning it and removing debris. Everything online says clean the linoleum well and lay the self-adhevise tile directly on the linoleum. any advice? (the floor is smooth and without “dings or dents”)
