I am getting ready to lay some laminate flooring. I am going to replace the bueatiful parquet flooring the previous owners left in the dining room and the linoleum tiles placed over the linoleum sheet floor in the attached kitchen!! (The previous sentence was written with sarcasm!!)
I have removed the parquet and both layers of linoleum, and was left with the subfloor covered in dry glue where the parquet was and what looks like floor leveler where the linoleum was. The glue for the parquet is some what even but coarse, the “floor leveler” is cracked and big pieces are missing sporadically around floor where it came up with the flooring.
I was wondering how even the floor has to be for the laminate? I am going to be putting down padding, but want to make sure I don’t have boards that sink when you walk on them. If you do recomend me removing the filler and the glue, what do you think I should use?
Thanks.
I am remodeling my kitchen and it has an industrial tile on the floor now (similiar to school flooring). I would like to put ceramic tile in its place. is it okay to lay the ceramic right over top if the floor is in good condition? or do i have to remove the laminate before placing the ceramic?
We laid new laminate in a kitchen and during the remodeling process blotches of paint have dried on the new floor. Some we have scraped off, other spots are being stubborn.
I pulled back a corner of the carpet to see what was underneath before I started this project…it was concrete. I did all the research to lay laminate on top of concrete and bought everything I needed. As I ripped everything up today there ended up being black ceramic tile under the carpet padding predominately in the middle of the floor. Almost like who ever layed the carpet was too lazy to take up all the tiles. Do I need to break them up and get rid of them before I lay the matting for my laminate floor or can I just leave it there and be lazy too? Will it have any effect?
I have recently ripped up a carpet in my flat hall way, underneath are black small tiles which I have also damaged on the edges closest to the walls whilst pulling up the carpet grips.
After a conversation with my colleague it turns out she had very similar tiles in her kitchen which turned out to be asbestos, it all got removed by the council immediately as her property is council owed…the only thing which worries me is the flat i am living in was council too but is now privately owed & rented to me…do i need to be worried?
can i just lay laminate flooring over these tiles??
thanks
please help I am remodeling my kitchen and we are pulling up our old laminate flooring and underneath is well… It reminds me of the stuff you see when you pull off wall paper. Its like its paper glued to the floor. I have been scraping my a@s off and I am tired. Can someone please tell me how to make this job just a little bit easier. Thank You
I am a beginner in DIY projects. I want to know the detailed steps in installing laminate flooring. I know it is said that it is pretty easy and also seems very easy. But there has to be some catch to it. I heard that I am supposed to leave the box of the laminate floor in the room for 48 hrs. What is this about? Am I supposed to open up the box and lay the tiles without clipping them together for 48 hrs or something else? Also I heard that you are not supposed to make the tiles touch the walls, and that you are supposed to leave a little gap. Can you please explain this further and how to do it, and how much gap to leave? Please help
THanks in advance
We just bought a house, and I’m already dreaming of remodeling the kitchen. I love wood countertops but have heard horror stories of upkeep.
I have two goals in mind:
1) How hard is to maintain a wood countertop?
2) Is it a good or bad thing for the resale value of the house?
what do i need to put under laminate flooring if laying over self adhesive tiles on concrete floor, thanks
Hello. I am ready to install laminate flooring. I do not know how to start or which way to start. Can you please help? My laminate tile is 2.5 square feet per tile. How should I go about laying them? Do I have to take off the molding and install the laminate, and then after put the molding back on(the bottom floor molding/trim)? Also, do I make the laminate touch the walls or am I supposed to leave space? Please help and give step by step process. I would greatly appreciate.
THanks in advance
