I am replacing the toilet in my bathroom.
After I take it out, I plan on laying down a 3/4″ piece of plywood to strengthen the floor. Then I’m going to tile it with 1/4″ inch thick self-adhesive tile. Giving me a grand total of one inch of added heighth.
Don’t I have to extend the flange, that the toilet bolts to, one inch to compensate? How do I do that? Do they make extensions? What do I need to know before I go and ask for the extension (if they make one)?
Do i need to put down a 2nd layer of ply wood to help with give in floor,Floating or glue down,what are the floors to stay away from someone has said to stay away from cardboard based laminate? I lay tile all the time but 1st time with laminate floors any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
I want to do ceramic tile on a kitchen floor and am considering doing it myself…I am a mosaic artist, so I know how to do grout and that sort of thing, but am not sure how difficult it is to lay larger tiles in that sort of area around a dishwasher and with having to worry about preping the floor underneath. Is it a reasonable endevor…or worth paying a professional? And suggestions would help.
If there are any professionals out there reading this, I really would like to know how it is figured in the budget to bid a job on laying ceramic tiles for flooring. Do you bid by the tile, square footage of the room, etc.?
Does the size of the tiles matter or effect the price of the job? How do you figure for a hall way? Long or short. Thanks for your help in advance!
