I’m remodeling a kitchen and need additional lighting.
I’m remodeling a kitchen and need additional lighting.
First off, my kitchen is remodeled 1950’s era. I have these small hooks in the ceiling corners of my house in every room just about. The hook in my bedroom used to have an old light fixture with a chain supported by the hook before I replaced it with a ceiling fan. I’m guessing that’s why they are in every room from back in the day, before fans? Anyway, I want to put this hook to use and cannot figure out what would be nice to hang from it? Something that would go along with my 50’s theme would be an idea, or something as simple as fake flowers? I wanted your ideas. It’s in the corner of the kitchen, there is a window near it, the walls are 50’s blue, window has white trim with white sheer curtains from that era. I don’t know how else to describe it, I’m a guy. I can rebuild a car engine but can’t figure out what to hang an a friggin’ hook go figure.
all i see are squares does anyone wanna chat with me on messanger or email to help me out with this?
I am remodeling a 1930s home with the original plank and beam ceiling. I’d like to put halogen lighting in the kitchen but am not sure what type of lighting I can use. The electrician has suggested track lighting, but i’d prefer something less obtrusive. there appears to be approx. 3 inches of space above the planks. does anyone have experience with this type of ceiling?
If I use a T-track and 2X4 acoustical type tile wire suspended ceiling with an open attic space above it, can I use a blow-in fiberglass insulation over the tiles to about 12 inches of insulation for R30? Should a very thin plastic barrier be laid down between tiles and insulation, to avoid insulation dropping to the floor when a tile is removed or replaced? And, should I add some kind of vapor barrier over the insulation for when it is humid outside?
I have a 2k square foot home and have made several upgrades such as revamping the pool and laying tile throughout the home. I was thinking of opening the ceiling in the dining and living rooms, but am unaware if it would negatively affect the value of my home. Also, I do know that an open-ceiling is insulated, but does it affect energy efficiency?
Thanks…
ok…me and my girlfriend are going to attempt to remodel my kitchen…we are starting with the ceiling, which has exposed drywall and cracks in the corners…anyone know any good sites or techniques to finish a ceiling…u r speaking to 2 ameteurs….
As a GC what is a good SF price to assume for installing Acoustic Ceiling Tile and Grid? How does this price differ for 2×2 vs. 2×4 tiles? Square Lay-In vs. Tegular Tiles?
Thanks,
I wondered if anyone new how much this costs? Say per square meter? labour and material.
Depends on what is above the ceiling tile, assuming that you have a grid and tile drop ceiling. If all that is above the drop ceiling is drywall or plaster, I would remove the grid, patch and paint to get the taller ceiling back unless it is ridiculously high.
