Ok so we are refinishing my grandmothers basement. One half of the basement was previously used as a bedroom and has tile flooring put down the other half is just concrete. She wants to lay carpet on the side with concrete and I need help figuring out what type of carpet padding I should be looking at and about what the price range would be. The space is 14 x 17. Thank you ahead of time!
We live in a rental property and the lino flooring is that old, industrial style stuff. It’s horrible, very scratched and stains so badly I essentially have to clean it on my hands and knees.
I have seen carpet tiles or squares in Bunnings, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to just lay them down over the lino? Obviously being a rental we can’t lay them properly, but what if we were just to fit them and lay them over the lino without any adhesive? Would it be a problem for the lino underneath, and would the vacuum cleaner lift them every time I did the floors?
Any advice would be appreciated, I really hate our awful floor and would like to improve it!
Just purchased patterned carpet tiles for the storage room and after removing them from the box we realized that there are numbers (from 1 to 4) and arrows on the back of the tiles. Since this is my first time installing them, I have no idea what the numbers mean (no in-dept instructions included, except that I should lay them in the same direction (hence the arrows)) and how to use them to properly install the tiles. Do they go: row of 1-1-1 and then 2-2-2 or 1-2-3-4 or should I just look at the pattern and forget the numbers?
Any help greatly appreciated!
The carpet in my living room is AWFUL! I absolutely cannot stand to look at it or smell it any longer. So last night, I pulled up a corner of the carpet to see what was underneath. I was hoping for wood floors, but instead found tile. Some type of older tile. So my question is this… after ripping it up, if the tile is broken or bad, what is my next option? Bust up the tile and see what’s under there? Or just lay some new type of flooring on top? If the tile is ok, I can just paint it or throw a rug over it. But if its awful too, what do I do?? Ideas please!
I have carpet in my livingroom and my dog tore a couple of sections out where the carpet meets in the kitchen and that is vinly tile and there is a metal strip layed down between the livingroom and kitchen. How would I fix the tear where the damage has been done? I do not want to replace the carpet. Could I buy a little larger metal strip and tack that down between the livingroom and kitchen this is mobile home carpet. Or should I cut that section out and lay more of the same peal and stick tile down and replace the metal strip tp cover the seams where the two rooms meet? Any advice would help me. Thank you.
i am trying to lay a door threshold crossing carpet and tile. the floor beneath is concrete. I have tried screwing into the fllo between the carpet and tile – but the screw doesnt hold and can just be pulled out. What is the best way?
thanks
There’s vinyl tiles in its place at the moment, is it worth the trouble removing those or can the carpet be laid over them? I know those tiles are a pain to remove, im hoping that doesn’t have to be done!
I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with laying a floor like this. How did it go? What is the best price anyone has found for these free floating carpet tiles? I’ve seen 89 cents a sq foot with free shipping? Cheaper anywhere? Thanks in advance for any help with this.
i am wondering how to install the aluminum carpet trim between my 1/2″ higher tile and carpet. the tile is 1/2″ above the carpet. the carpet lays on cement. my husband tried to nail in the trim to the cement but kept bending the nails even though he pre-drilled the cement so the nails could go in easily. tt home depot people, they really didn’t seem to have a clue. this seems like it should be easy does anyone have a clue?
has anyone had experience with removing a carpet from a room and then laying down another form of flooring? i’d really like to remove the carpet in my son’s room because our puppy had several accidents and even though we’ve washed it several times, it still stinks. can anyone give me some tips on how to deal with that? i’ve never removed carpet or laid down any flooring – i was thinking of putting down some linoleum tile. please help!!!!
