Replacing Part Of My Bathroom Floor And The Old Tiles Do Not Match With The New Tiles In Size.?

Hi,
We are trying to replace part of the bathroom floor tile( age of bathroom 13 years old).
So we measured the tile and it was 4 1/4 inch square. Now went to home depot and bought a white tile 4 1/4 inch square and when laying that , found out that it looks slightly bigger and they are not aligning with the old tiles that are already in place. It was looking so odd so we halted the proccess and are asking for help as we are first timers.
We measured the old tile again and found it was just a little shy of 4 1/4 inch…….a very small difference……..it is definately not 4 inches
please do help
what are we doing wrong……is there a tile measuring a little less that 4 1/4 inch and more than 4 inch?????

Removed Stick Tiles In Bathroom To Find Black Mold On The Plywood! Please Help!!?

Me again… Another problem with recently purchased house. Pulled up, poorly laid stick on vinyl bathroom tiles and found BLACK MOLD under them. I immediatly washed all down with bleach as I thought this would help kill bacteria. But now what do I do? I was told to paint over the plywood with Kilnz as it seals and kills bacteria.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and please put it in woman/10 year old daughter terminolgy otherwise it won’t make a bit of sense to me…:) Sorry, this whole remodeling thing is new to me. Oh, did I mention it will have to be something I can do on my own as I can’t afford to hire anyone at the moment, well and probably for a lot of moments to come. :( Thank you so much, any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day! :)

How To Paint A Ceramic Tiled Bathroom?

We have bought a house that needs both kitchen and bath remodeled. We decided to do the kitchen first and the bathroom next year, however the bathroom has U-G-LY black and pink ceramic tiles. I have heard tile can be painted, I just don’t know how or what kind of paint to use. Can any body help? Thank you

Tiling A Bathroom Floor – Wc And Sink Already Fitted?

I’ve had a new bathroom built but we couldn’t get hold of the floor tiles before the job was ‘finished’. The WC and sink are installed but they are sitting on a piece of plasterboard to get them more or less at the right height. Now we’re ready to do the tiling, is it an option to get a willing helper to just lift the WC and sink up a bit whilst the tiles underneath are laid and then lower them onto the tiles (maybe put some spacers underneath the tiles) or do I need to disconnect and remove them and then put them back a day or so later? If anyone feels that the most appropriate answer is ‘disconnect and remove – do the job properly and stop being lazy’ I won’t be upset, I just wanted to check there wasn’t an acceptable short cut!

Bathroom Renovations – Australia?

we’re in a brick and tile home and we’ve just removed the bathtub from our tiled bathroom.
the bath was tiled in and when pulled out, we discovered it was laying on sand and not the concrete slab as assumed. when we dug through the sand to find the slab, we just kept digging. the homes concrete slab doesn’t look like it goes underneath the bath??? is this normal? or is the bathtub supposed to lay on top of the slab?

Using Wall Tiles On The Floor (of A Bathroom).?

Hi,
I bought a load of ceramic wall tiles to tile my bathroom walls with (http://www.wickes.co.uk/Ceramic-Wall-Tiles/Samara-Wall-Tile/invt/166309), however they are wall tiles and I want to tile the floor with them too. I will be putting down a suitable surface to lay them on but my question is will they be strong enough as floor tiles? Are they likely to crack when trodden on??
Thanks,
Pete

Bathroom Cabinets Are Too Low.?

Not including the countertop, they are 30″ high, too low for me. My plan is to upgrade the countertop (will be laminate), 2 sinks, 2 faucets. Cabinets are in good condition, and would rather not replace them because they were installed on subfloor, then ceramic floor tile was laid around them. There is a 38″ low-wall anchoring the far end.
Is there a way to raise the cabinet height 2″ to 3″ without it looking jerrybuilt?

Is It Illegal To Cover/not Disclose A Rotted Bathroom (mold)?

Ok here’s the deal we just bought our house 1 week ago tomorrow (July 6). We had an inspection (by a very good reputable inspector). Sellers had just laid new tile (the peel n stick junk) less than a year ago (he told us that and we have a box of the left overs that is dated July 2008 so we no it isn’t very old).
Anyway we were scrubbing the tub to prepare to move in, as we were scrubbing (not overly hard mind you) we notice the tiles starting to crumble, we then realized the wall behind the tub was completely rotted, bummer but oh well what do you do?? Upon further inspection we found our entire floor to be rotting, so the seller essentially covered the rot with new flooring to sell the house-
my question, was this legal?? Or can we go back after him for this?? I know it wasn’t ethical but legal is my question. We are now living in this house, with a 1 year old with absolutely no bathroom, thank goodness our new neighbors have been kind enough to let us use theres….
