Should I Prep My Old Linoleum Before Installing New Vinyl Tiles?

Remodeling a small guest bath with old (1962) linoleum. The guy at lowes recommended painting the linoleum with a latex primer after cleaning it and removing debris. Everything online says clean the linoleum well and lay the self-adhevise tile directly on the linoleum. any advice? (the floor is smooth and without “dings or dents”)

as long as the existing floor is attached to the sub floor well, you should have no problems.we install over 1 layer of flooring all the time…..If there are more than 1 layer, then you need to put a thin layer of plywood or luan down, and then put the vinyl tiles over that.

Follow the manufactures recommendations or you will have problems down the road.
