How To Remove White Blotches From Quarry/slate Tiles?

I have recently laid quarry slate tiles in my kitchen. The tiles are dark, almost black in colour and look really good. Some of them though, have white blotches on them which I’m sure happened during the cutting process before being delivered. I’ve tried scrubbing them, but no amount of work seems to shift these marks. Any ideas or pointers?

Could it possibly be water deposits? Try some Lime away or Comet for hard water deposits in the spray bottle. If it’s water spots it cleans up easy. If not maybe you should ask the people where you bought the slate tiles from.

try lime-away – that stuff takes off about anything. be sure to rinse it off good.

I’m just taking a wild guess at this…..have you tried rubbing it with an ordinary eraser?

They sound like dull spots. Try a rubbing coumpound and a buffer to shine them up.
